AQUALYX® is used in non-surgical treatments for excess fat. It is an aqueous solution with a microgelatinous base that can control and enhance external ultrasound waves, applied with the Sonolyx medical ultrasound wave generator. AQUALYX® is injected into adipose tissue to treat the so-called buffalo hump in patients that are HIV positive, subcutaneous liphyperplasia, and lipohypertrophy, especially in the coulotte de cheval which is the superiorlateral thigh area, the medial thigh region, and the medial zone around the hips and knees. The cavitational adipocytolisis method involves injecting AQUALYX® into adipose tissue using the intra-lipotherapy technique. When ultrasound waves are applied to the skin externally, AQUALYX® allows fluids to be replaced in the adipose tissue, destroying the fat cells through microcavitation and enhancing the drainage of organic fluids from that area of tissue.
